Overview #
IQNECT 26.2 introduces Windchill PLM integration, allowing IQNECT to retrieve, normalize, and index Windchill PLM objects and traces.
Product teams often manage hardware and product structures in Windchill while software requirements, development work, and traceability live in other systems. This separation can make it difficult to understand how product changes affect requirements, development tasks, or downstream lifecycle data.
With this update, IQNECT can surface Windchill PLM objects and traces in connected workflows. Windchill data is normalized so IQNECT can work with it consistently, and Windchill objects are indexed for semantic search.
This update supports stronger alignment between Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) workflows.
Prerequisites #
- You are using IQNECT version 26.2 or later.
- A Windchill PLM connection has been configured.
- You have permission to access the relevant Windchill PLM objects.
- Windchill indexing has been enabled for semantic search.
How Windchill PLM integration works #
The Windchill connector retrieves PLM objects and trace information from Windchill. IQNECT normalizes this data so it can be searched, analyzed, and connected with information from other systems.
After indexing, Windchill PLM objects become available in semantic search. This allows users to search product data by context and meaning, helping teams find relevant PLM information more efficiently.
The workflow focuses on lifecycle visibility:
- Retrieve Windchill PLM objects and traces.
- Normalize Windchill data for IQNECT workflows.
- Index Windchill objects for semantic search.
- Connect PLM context to ALM and other lifecycle data.
Use Windchill PLM data in IQNECT #
Follow these steps to work with Windchill PLM data in IQNECT:
Confirm the Windchill PLM connection #
Open the IQNECT Admin UI and select the Systems tab.

Review the configured Windchill PLM system connection. IQNECT requires connection details so it can retrieve and index Windchill lifecycle data. Depending on the environment configuration, this can include:
- Windchill base URL
- Authentication configuration
- OAuth 2.0 settings
- Connection and access information
Confirm that the Windchill PLM connection is configured and active.

Confirm semantic indexing #
Verify that Windchill indexing is enabled for semantic search workflows.

After indexing is complete, Windchill lifecycle objects become available through IQNECT searches and connected workflows.

Search for Windchill PLM objects #
In Codebeamer, open Semantic Search or Advanced Search depending on your workflow. Enter a query related to the product data, part, lifecycle artifact, or trace context you want to find.
IQNECT searches indexed Windchill lifecycle objects alongside connected lifecycle resources from other systems when applicable.

Review Windchill PLM results #
Review the returned Windchill lifecycle objects and related lifecycle context. Results can include connected lifecycle relationships, traces, requirements, and associated engineering information from integrated systems.
Results and next steps #
You’ve searched and reviewed Windchill PLM objects in IQNECT.
Use this integration to improve PLM and ALM alignment, reduce disconnected product context, and support more complete lifecycle visibility.
